Mouldings and profiles have always been an essential component of architectural woodwork and furniture. I make all my profiles by hand, using planes, not powered machinery. This is partly because I am using such small amounts that it is just as efficient, often more so. Some profiles would in fact be very difficult, if not impossible to make on a shaper, due to the undercutting of the forms. The end result has a clean cut finish usually not the case with most shaper and router made mouldings. I also detest using routers with a passion!
